Unfortunately the 2017 North American tour has been canceled due to Dolores' back problem. While I'm super disappointed as this would have been my first time seeing the band together in 15 years, I sincerely wish Dolores all the best in her recovery.
Hello all, I apologize for not updating in a while. I am in the process of buying a house and that has been consuming most of my time. Once everything is settled I will resume regular updates.
Wishing Dolores a speedy recovery and hoping the tour gets back on track.
In the mean time a saw this commercial for University of Phoenix (an online College in the US) the other night theat uses a cover version of Dreams that I wanted to share.
Wowza, this is now my favorite Cranberries cover. According to Wikipedia this is Jeff Whalen's version with vocals by New Terot. I had previously reported about this cover. Gorgeous.
I'm going to Atlanta baby! This will be my first time seeing them together since 2002! (I did travel to see Dolores solo in 2007).
Regular tickets run between $35.50 and $75. (I didn't check the other dates and venues, but assume the pricing will be similar)
The VIP package runs for $175 and includes:
- One premium reserved or general admission ticket - VIP early entry into the venue - VIP access to The Cranberries preshow soundcheck - Specially designed The Cranberries tour shirt (exclusive to VIP packages only!) - Collectible, silkscreened tour poster autographed by The Cranberries (numbered, limited print) - Exclusive The Cranberries tote bag - The Cranberries button set - Official VIP laminate - Limited availability
No South Florida!? Again!? But... it's been 15 years! booooo
Sigh, well they did say in a few separate interviews that there would be 18 dates, and they only announced 14. So maybe there's still hope... September 14th or 15th could fit after Atlanta...
Otherwise it looks like a 9 and 1/2 hour drive in the middle of the week for me to Georgia.
In case you missed the band signed copies from the official site. You can still order Dolores signed copies from Newbury Comics.
Many fans will remember Newbury selling signed booklets for No Baggage and Roses. (I've ordered signed booklets from them for years for various other artists).
A reader at Cranberries World was kind enough to share the track here!
Much thanks to Cranberries World and their unnamed reader!
The Cranberries fan community has always been very generous and I'm proud to be a part of it. Hoping I get the opportunity to share something unique one day.
The band was quietly added to the labels website last night. See here
Likely for the wide US distribution of "Something Else". (Up until this point it appeared that the US was just getting imported copies from the UK). This might be a good sign for preorder sales for the States, that they would need a more local distribution.
According to the site, it's listed as "Coming Soon" but a vinyl message board is giving it the same release date as the Barnes and Noble special red vinyl edition.
It was "Cut from the original stereo tapes by Sean Magee at Abbey Road Studios" (According to the message board Sean worked on the mono vinyl editions of The Beetles albums among others, fans have been very pleased with his work).
It will be "Housed in a Stoughton old style tip on gratefold jacket" (I love this about The Cranberries vinyl releases and re-issues, I hate getting a 1 pocket folder to store my vinyl)
It's really nice to see that it's being done right, it wasn't rushed into production.
Someone is selling it for $128 (USD) here. So if you have deep pockets and you want to be the first on your block to hear the instrumental version, it's waiting for you. (I'll be waiting for it to hit ebay)
Well that didn't take long for one of my vinyl wishes, from the other day, to come true . Really happy and excited to see this. Do any other Cranberries fans feel extremely spoiled lately? I'm loving all these new releases and re-releases!
Thank you to Cranberries World and their source, Joshua Ryan for the heads up!
Holy crap! It only took 3 re-releases of "No Need To Argue" and 1 "Bury The Hatchet" but we're finally getting the first album! This will complete my vinyl collection for the albums that are available. Still crossing my fingers for a vinyl release for "Wake Up and Smell The Coffee" and, maybe one day, "Something Else", hell, throw in Dolores' solo albums and Mono Band as well! Also, a double LP of Stars would be amazing... a boy can dream. (Yes, I have vinyl fever)
Just announced: Ole Koretsky and DJ Wool will be performing D.A.R.K. songs and other material in support of several of The Cranberries European tour dates.
Now, I don't think it would be much of a stretch to assume that Dolores would join them on stage as a little "surprise", but I guess we'll have to wait and see on May 2nd.
Dolores and Noel called in to a Chicago radio station this morning and revealed that they will be announcing US tour dates in the next week! Noel said about 18 dates! OMG please come to Florida, it's been 15 years!! (f-it, I'm seeing them no matter what this time - anywhere on the East Coast, I'll be there!).
Listen for yourself Here. US tour talk starts about 4:20.
This is no small feat for a song that was released 23 years ago. The video has been on you youtube for just 7 years. Imagine the number of views if this was the height of the band's popularity.
Zombie remains the biggest modern rock single in the US from a female lead group or female artist... to this day.
ETA: Just for comparisons sake, Alanis Morissette, 90's biggest female artist, her biggest single, Ironic, has 53 million views and it was uploaded 2 years before Zombie!
ETA: It just aired, yes it is a radio edit. Much more compact with a little more production. Most of the intro is gone and it ends with Dolores' voice. I really like it! Very radio friendly!
Also, new image from the band's official twitter (possible single art preview?).
Did someone say party? If it’s the 90’s, The Cranberries are there. However the year doesn’t matter in the slightest when it comes to St. Patrick’s Day. This band is Irish to the core! Heck, they’re even from a city called Limerick. If that (and “Zombie”) doesn’t scream Irish, nothing does. “Zombie” is such a good song!.
How can we forget the brooding sounds of this band that was at their peak in the '90s? Some may shy away from the tone of lead singer Dolores O'Riordan's voice, but you cannot deny its uniqueness. If they've been absent from your playlist for years, throw them back in the mix and listen with a strong cocktail — should help get those memories flowing.
A hallmark of '90s alternative/pop rock, The Cranberries are one of the rare Irish bands to make an auspicious run on US music charts with singles like "Zombie," "Linger," and "Ode to My Family." With singer Dolores O'Riordan's unique vocals, the Hogan brothers' grungy guitar and bass and Fergal Lawlor's drums The Cranberries are one of the most successful rock acts of the '90s and have sold over 40 million records worldwide. The band has achieved four top 20 albums on the Billboard 200 chart and eight top 20 singles on the Modern Rock Tracks chart.
ABC's recent love affair with our favorite band continued tonight. According to several twitter users a joke was made about The Cranberries being responsible for unplanned pregnancies in the 90's. The band even got a shout out from the show's official twitter account, see link.
It's unclear if any songs were played in the episode, Ill be checking it out when it hits on demand.
ETA: Finally watched it. No songs were played in this episode. The joke was a throw back to a previous episode that indeed played Linger when two characters... conceived a baby. So that's 3 for 4 on ABC's Tuesday lineup. Dreams on American Housewife, Zombie on Fresh off The Boat and Linger on The Real O'Neals. Will The Middle make it 4 for 4 before the end of the season?
As you can see the cover art is a throw back to the first two albums, although it isn't "the" couch, still cool. The new songs are, "The Glory". "Rupture", and previously revealed, "Why". The other tracks are taken from the first four albums... 2 from "Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?", 3 from "No Need To Argue", 2 from "To The Faithful Departed" and 3 from "Bury The Hatchet".
When asked whether D.A.R.K. would be a one off project in an interview with Music Radar, Andy Rourke revealed that D.A.R.K. is currently "in writing mode" and trying to line up their schedules. "Watch this space is all I can say", he said somewhat cryptically.
Sounds promising!
Thanks to the K. in D.A.R.K. for re-tweeting the interview!
The funny thing was, Noel had literally just finished saying that they hadn't chosen which song will be the new single yet, though it would likely be one of the new songs. Dolores than piped up, announcing "Why" as the single, the two exchanged a few words after, my guess is, she jumped the gun with the announcement before it was made official. It's a cute moment between the two.
If you're like me, and The Cranberries aren't coming anywhere near you for the acoustic tour, you're probably dying for any information you can get about the new album. Well the band was spotted yesterday posing for a new photo shoot, which one could assume will be for the cover art or booklet for the new album. See the below picture!
As I've stated in the past, I'm not going to report every single live date announcement that doesn't pertain to the US. But since this is all in one shiny new poster, (that may also be a preview of the art for the new acoustic hits album) I made an exception.
I am severely jealous. If you are lucky enough to be attending one of these special concerts, please take videos and share!
I'm not going to hold my breath for a US leg later this year, though I would be willing to travel to NY if it happens. That said, this June will mark 15 years since they've ventured to South Florida. C'mon!! We miss you guys down here!
I think we'll be getting an official announcement about the new album within the next few weeks. My uneducated prediction is that Dolores' solo song, Letting Go, will be one of the new songs included, as Dolores performed a string version of it at the Vatican Christmas Concert in 2015 and presented it as a "new" song even though it was released as a b side to her first solo album in 2007.We'll see.
This is actually a few months old, but I thought it could be a nice little nugget to hold us over while we wait for any upcoming official announcements.
Mr. Whalen released this as the first single from his upcoming album, "Distant Dream" which is due out in the States on February 24th.
As always, nothing compares to the original, but I'm liking this version.
Just confirmation of stuff we've already heard. Looks like BMG will handle distribution at least in Europe. No word for the US yet. It also confirms that 3 original songs will be included.
